Dottie, you know even writing in a guest
book presents a tech challenge. Hope you
get my message. I truly miss you…No one to walk the halls, no one to laugh hysterically over little things, no funny messages…we all miss you! You will get through because it is meant to be. Love from me missing you.
Dottie
I enjoyed your mother’s day posting. I always forget that you are orginally from “back east”. How wonderful that your children are nearby and supportive for you!
By the way, Mike’s taking doctoral comps- would you believe!
Maria
Hey Doc,
I was just listening to some i-tunes and thought of you…so in the words of Bruce Springsteen:
…”may your strength give us strength, may your faith give us faith, may your hope give us hope, may your love give us love”….
Hope your days are getting somewhat easier or at least more bearable (sp?).
And not that you asked, but I always thought that physics were over-rated anyway – You’ll be where you’ll be on any given day no matter what anyone tells you…I believe fate is what it is…just that….fate….your’s is to beat the hell out of this disease….
We still miss you at school, so hurry up and come back soon before anyone else gets pregnant!!
I can’t wait to share this little website of yours with my mom. She also was diagnosed with the “c” word and recovered completely. I hope that we were there for her like your wonderful family is for you. Can I have a signed copy of your book when it comes out?
Hello Doc! My mom is the cookie mom and she told me about this website. She asked me to read it. My grandma was diagnosed with it too. I hope that you recover just like my grandma did! Everybody at the school misses you and hope that you can come back to the school soon.
Hi Dottie,
Just a quick hello to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I was saddened to hear about your battle with cancer, but you are strong and have a great support system of family and friends to help you along the way. My father is a cancer survivor, and so is a dear freind of mine. I am sure I will be able to add you to the list of survivors in my life. I will check this blog again soon…
Michelle
Hi, I am going to miss having you as a teacher. It was a really fun and meaningful class! You are a spectacular person and you have made an impression on my life. I wish you success in beating your cancer (with what ever tool you deem appropriate)! My thoughts and prayers are with you!
Hi Tracie,
The feeling is quite mutual. I’m so glad I got to know you during class, and I appreciate your listening to my oncology stories and passing along your mother’s contact information to me.
I hope the rest of your summer is glorious. Please keep in touch.
Dottie
Dottie, I am writing to you on the first day of working with you at Harmon. What a thrill it is to be working with you again. I felt the building come alive with your spirit and joyfull personality. I am traveling along with you on your journey and am so inspired by your strengh. I feel so lucky to call you a friend and am here for you in what ever you may need. I look forward to again share with you funny stories and just everyday life stuff. I am lucky…
Connie
Connie,
I am the lucky one to have you at my new place of work. Our relationship has not missed a beat, but you are a little behind on the Joe stories. I hear that laughter is very important in my particular circumstance, and I know I can count on you for a large percentage of my daily dose. I like the way you mentioned my spirit and personality and not my demands for a new chair and colored folders (Oops, Robert doesn’t read this blog, does he?) Also, please be in charge of wig straightening. I feel as if that thing is moving around, so if you see it cockeyed, could you give me a high sign or a secret code word? Like ixnay on the igway? I love you, Connie..Harmon Hug, Harmon Hug, Harmon Hug…
Hi there,
I am terribly sad you will not be at Goolsby next year. I will miss you! As for this chemo business, yes it does suck! However, it is doing some very important work right now PREVENTION! This will pass! A year from now this will all be a memory! Keep on doing as much as you can! I remember feeling many of the same things when I went through this. You are doing great!
Danette,
I can’t tell you how happy I am to hear from you. I will miss you as well; I already do. You are a great cheerleader, and you always use the right words like PREVENTION and how this will be a MEMORY some day. Right now it’s so hard to have those postive thoughts. Honestly, I had to go to the Institute yesterday to have blood drawn, and even the thought of driving to that place makes me feel physically ill. Maybe some day in the future I’ll drive out to Goolsby for a visit, pass the Institute, and say, “Hey, there’s the place that made me healthy again!”
Keep in touch,
Dottie
Oooo…look at you writing all in pink! It seems everything about you is pink these days! So happy to have shared a little of my VAST knowledge with you today, even if it does involve calorie laden goodies like maple blondies! Thanks again for the laughs…I’ll call you soon with a date story like NO other! Love you!
I am so glad to read that you are doing so well and are finished with chemo. I miss seeing you at Goolsby. I hope you’re enjoying working at Harmon. I’m sure it’s nice to be back with Robert. Sydney arrived Aug. 10th and is now 3 1/2 months old. I can’t believe how fast the time is going. She entered this world at 5lbs 4oz and is now 13lbs 4oz and is growing out of all her 3 months clothes. I just hope she doesn’t grow up too fast. Please take care of yourself.
Hi Beth,
I’m so happy to hear about your little girl, or should I say big girl now? I think Sydney is a great name. I don’t recall seeing any pictures of her. Could you email one? And the thing about growing up, it will be too fast…so just enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. When it seems that the laundry won’t wait, you have to wonder if in time she’ll wait for you to read her that book or play that game or sing that song. O.K., too much philosophy. Congratulations on your new status as Mom.
Dottie
Hi Dotttie, I just read the latest entry and finally got the nerve up to sign your guest book. I’ve made a few observation that should make you smile. #1 If anyone can get away with going hatless it’s you! #2 Be proud, you officially have a mullet :0), #3 High foreheads are also known as big foreheads (just keeping it real). Hey, you’ve seen me and you know I know! I love you and miss you! Come see us soon! Car
Dottie…I have just started reading your blog. You are an amazing woman. I am so honored to know you. You really are an incredible lady. Thank you for all your love, friendship, and advice during Kolby’s journey of cancer. You are a dear friend, and I love ya! Dana
This is the first entry in your guestbook!
Hi Mom – Elliott thinks he is such a stud for setting you up with this great blog and guest book, thanks for inflating his ego!
Can’t wait to give you a GREAT BIG HUG!! Miss your smile, your wit, our “same color” days. Come back soon…
Mom, I love you every minute of every day!

a laugh for the day:
If you’re crossed eyed and have dyslexia, do you read all right?
Hope you are doing a little better each day Doc….we’re all thinking of you.

The whole Rizzuto-Paske-O’Keefe family is thinking of you and wishing you well. We love you and we look forward to your full recovery . . .
